Happy New Year!

Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind? What does that mean anyway?

"Auld lang syne" means "times gone by" and it comes from a song from Scottish poet, Robert Burns.

A classic 80s romcom, "When Harry Met Sally," poses this funny question:

At this time of the year, I'm eager to make resolutions, better my life, and start the new year with exuberance, freshness, and joy. Resolutions aren't simply a to-do list of items to frivolously discard mid-January. They are a testament to YOU- the person you want to be.

What are YOUR resolutions this year? How can you be better person? How can this year be better than the last? (Forgive the heavy dose of cheese)

My resolution is to start a blog. I am woefully incompetent with technology, but my 11 year old daughter assures me that even I can do this. My aim is to explore poetry, art, music, words with my students, and friends too. That said, here are two poems about the New Year from writers I really enjoy.

Happy New Year!!
